Date Posted:02/14/2016 11:00:51Copy HTML A man came to my door - about 8:50pm - with a long story about his car being towed away... he supposedly is the son of one of my neighbour. He has to get his car back but doesn't quite have enough $$$. He is only asking for me to lend his $28.50 as his tow bill is $168.50 ... said he would come back in about a hour to pay me back. He gave me his phone number, I dialed and he (still being on my door step) answered it... so he now has my phone number.
Anyway... I asked him to leave something with me that he would get back when he comes and pay me... he left his birth certificate. Well, he didn't come back by 10pm but phoned me saying that he didn't have his car back yet but would be coming the next day (Sunday) before lunch. He even insisted to buy me a bottle of wine in return for my kindness! Ha! never came back the next day... I went to the house where he said his mother lives... showed the so called birth certificate - they don't know anybody by that name ---> I've been gypped $30.00 So... what to do? The police doesn't get involved in that kind of incident because there is no crime committed! It is totally my fault for trusting the fellow. The only thing I can do is: 1. try and call him and talk 2. send a message on his cell phone 3. spread the experience on social media with his phone number attached to it. If I phone... here is what I will say: So... you have not come back to pay the money you borrowed. I don't suppose you have any intention to do so, do you? I am not angry, just very sad... it is sad that people like you take advantage of kind-hearted individuals. I chose to think that you must be desperate but if you are not in a dire situation, life will teach you one day or the other. What man saws, he will also reap says the Bible. One day, there will be out there a young man who will take advantage of your mother, just like you have done to me. |
